(U) At the NATIONAL RECONNAISSANCE OFFICE, innovation is about solving hard problems for America's policymakers, intelligence analysts, warfighters, and homeland security specialists. It's about delivering upon our Mission more effectively and more efficiently. It is about building and operating a robust, agile, and responsive national reconnaissance capability that the times demand and that America deserves.

(U) The overall objective of this NRO Innovation Portal is to provide a single location for collecting novel, state-of-the-art ideas and concepts from industry, academia and Government laboratories. The NRO uses Broad Agency Announcements to solicit improvements to existing NRO capabilities, to adapt existing techniques and technologies to the NRO Mission, and to develop entirely new processes, services, or tools to meet NRO needs.

(U) The NRO Issues BAA's under the provisions of paragraph 6.102(d)(2) of the Federal Acquistion Regulation (FAR). Contract(s) awarded as a result of proposals submitted in response to a BAA are considered to be the result of competition to the maximum extend practicable within the NRO community.
